Whatcom Speed Skating Club, located in Bellingham, Washington is a volunteer run, non-profit organization that encourages youth and adult fitness and character development through participation in Short Track Speed Skating. Skating sessions are held weekly at the Bellingham Sportsplex. Protective gear is required for all skaters, padding is in place along rink edge, coaching is provided for beginners and advanced skaters. lnner-club participation is encouraged within Northwest Washington and British Columbia. Fall skatlng season runs from September through December. Winter season runs from January through March. Fees are seasonal, drop-in skaters are welcome, discounted fees for first time skaters.
All Skill Levels Welcome: Large or small, big or tall, fast or slow, all skill levels welcome. Coaches and training at every session.
Equipment: You’ll need to provide your own helmet (bike or skate), gloves (cut resistant, leather or similar), kneepads, neck-guard, safety glasses, and speedskates (speed skates are available for rent from WSSC)
Post Season April – June Day and Time: Tuesdays, 6:15 PM at the Sportsplex. Arrive 20 minutes early to help set up equipment and lace your skates.
First Time Skater Fees: Special rates apply for individuals wanting to learn about speed skating. First three sessions = $10 Adult, $5 Kids. Skate rental included. Pay at the Sportsplex front window this spring.

Great workout and excellent cross training: Speed Skating is an excellent form of cross training for cycling, running, hockey, and figure skating and cycling.
